Rejoice with Voice – Sandeep Lokhande: The Man Who imitates 64 Voices and Wins Every Heart
Have you ever met someone who could make you laugh, cry, and smile all in the span of a few minutes just with their voice?
Meet
Sandeep Kashinath Lokhande, a man whose gift of mimicry is more than a talent it’s a way of life. A natural performer since childhood, Sandeep has used his voice to light up radio waves, stage shows, wedding sangeets, and even international arenas for decades.
But behind that charming voice and effortless humor is a story of passion, persistence, and a deep love for connecting with people.
Born to Imitate, Built to Inspire
It all started back in school. While most kids were focused on homework and playtime, young Sandeep was busy mimicking teachers, movie stars, and the quirky characters he saw around him. “I didn’t know it was called mimicry,” he laughs. “I just enjoyed watching people smile when I copied someone.”
That joy became a passion and soon, a profession.
Even while pursuing a B.Sc. in Chemistry, his heart beat for the mic. Sandeep wasn’t one to follow the typical path. Instead of labs and formulas, he chose laughter and applause. And that bold decision changed everything.
From Radio Waves to Worldwide Applause
Sandeep’s voice didn’t just stay in classrooms. It soon found its way to
Akashvani Mumbai (107.1 FM Rainbow) where he ruled the airwaves as an RJ for 20 incredible years. His warm tone, quick wit, and signature mimicry made him a household name in Mumbai.
“I used to imagine someone driving home tired, switching on the radio, and suddenly smiling because I cracked a joke or imitated Amitabh Bachchan,” he recalls. “That’s the power of the voice it connects without being seen.”
But Sandeep wasn’t just meant for radio booths. He was born for the stage.
A Host Like No Other
Over the years, Sandeep has hosted
corporate shows, weddings, social events, and even international performances. His energy is infectious, his timing is spot on, and with 64 voices up his sleeve there’s never a dull moment.
From hosting mega-events for the
Indian Navy in Goa for 3 consecutive years to being the chosen emcee for the
Salman Khan Night in Muscat in 2006, Sandeep has performed for top brands and elite audiences across the world.
But no matter how grand the event, his goal remains simple:
make people feel good.
64 Voices, One Heart
Sandeep’s biggest gift? His unmatched ability to switch between
64 distinct voices each one so accurate, you’d think the real person just walked in.
From Bollywood legends to everyday folks, he brings characters to life with warmth, humor, and uncanny precision.
This exceptional talent earned him the
Gold Medal in Mimicry from Mumbai University, but for Sandeep, the biggest reward is something else: “It’s when someone in the audience says, ‘For a moment, I forgot it was an act.’ That means the world to me.”
The Hard Truth Behind the Humor
Of course, the journey hasn’t been all laughter. Sandeep admits that mimicry, though entertaining, is often underrated. “Everyone thinks it’s easy just copy someone’s voice. But no one sees the hours of practice, the observation, the detailing behind each performance,” he says.
In a world full of short reels and instant fame, staying authentic and consistent is the real challenge.
But Sandeep never gave up because what he does isn’t just for fame. It’s for
connection.
A Mission to Make People Smile
When asked about his biggest motivation, Sandeep doesn’t hesitate: “To make people smile. That’s it.”
And he means it.
Whether it’s a thousand-strong audience at a corporate show or a solo listener on the radio, Sandeep brings his best every time. His dream now? To keep performing, keep learning, and maybe one day mentor young artists who want to bring joy through voice.
