Union Minister Ramdas Athawale Honors Prof. Dr. Mamidanna Sreedhar for Groundbreaking Contributions to AI-Powered Healthcare and Academic Leadership
Prof. Dr. Mamidanna Sreedhar, a distinguished scientist and academic leader originally from Andhra Pradesh, has been officially honored by Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State, in recognition of his outstanding work in artificial intelligence, medical innovation, and reforms in higher education.
Over the course of a career that connects international research ecosystems with Indian academic institutions, Prof. Dr. Sreedhar exemplifies a unique combination of technical mastery and forward-looking leadership. After completing his foundational education in India, he pursued advanced studies in the United States, engaging deeply in interdisciplinary research spanning computer science, engineering, and biomedical sciences.
During his time abroad, he worked as a Consultant and Scientist at IBM Research & Development Labs in the USA and Canada. His responsibilities included work on cloud computing infrastructure, sophisticated system architectures, and emerging artificial intelligence applications—experience that later informed his vision to enhance India’s research and innovation capacity.

Motivated by a strong commitment to national development, he returned to India in 2010 to contribute to academic and research advancement. He undertook senior leadership positions at Karnataka Open University and Babu Banarasi Das University, where he spearheaded curriculum modernization, founded interdisciplinary research centers, and attracted competitive funding from national agencies.
Prof. Dr. Sreedhar’s scholarly work extends across artificial intelligence, cloud computing, medical sciences, psychology, engineering, and human rights. His recent publication, Role of AI in Medical Technology, has been widely praised for outlining practical frameworks for AI-driven diagnostics, precision medicine, intelligent monitoring systems, and digital hospital management. He is also the author of Clinical Anatomy and Functional Physiology, a well-regarded academic text for students in medical and allied health disciplines.
In addition to his academic pursuits, he provides advisory support to super-speciality hospitals on implementing AI solutions, clinical data analytics, and technology-enabled patient care models—ensuring that innovation translates effectively from theory into real-world healthcare practice.
