Matri Sudha & CRY Celebrates World Environment Day 2025 with Children and Adolescents to Promote Environmental Sustainability
New Delhi, June 5, 2025 – Matri Sudha, a leading organization committed to community well-being, proudly announced the successful celebration of World Environment Day 2025, engaging 14 enthusiastic adolescents and children in a vibrant awareness program held at ICD Park, V.P. Singh Camp. The initiative aimed to ignite a sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation, focusing on the critical themes of reducing plastic consumption and promoting tree plantation to combat global warming.
This year’s global theme, “Say No to Plastic and Plant Trees to Make Sustainable Delhi,” guided the day’s activities. The children participated in an interactive session on the harmful effects of single-use plastics and the benefits of plantation as a nature-based solution to climate change. The session culminated in a tree-planting activity, where each child planted a sapling and took a pledge to nurture it.
Mr. Arvind Singh, Technical Advisor, Health and Nutrition with Matri Sudha, addressed the participants and emphasized the link between a healthy environment and community well-being. He stated,
“Environmental degradation affects the health and nutrition of our communities, particularly children. Today’s initiative is a small yet powerful step to instill in young minds the value of clean surroundings and the role they can play in achieving a sustainable future.”
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Ravi Shanker Rai, Senior Programme Manager at Matri Sudha, said,
“When children and adolescents become part of the solution, the impact is long-lasting. Our aim is to create future environmental stewards who understand that saying no to plastic and planting trees is not just an action but a responsibility.”
The celebration concluded with a opinion sharing by community volunteers, where children shared their thoughts on how they can influence their families and peers to adopt eco-friendly practices. Matri Sudha remains committed to empowering young voices to act for the environment and will continue such awareness-building efforts across its project areas.
