From Bihar to Building a Fashion Brand: The Entrepreneurial Journey of Sarthak Kavi and Ravion

At a time when India’s fashion industry continues to evolve, a growing number of young individuals are exploring entrepreneurship as a way to turn their ideas into meaningful ventures. Among them is Sarthak Kavi, a BBA student from Bihar who has begun his entrepreneurial journey with an ambition to build an Indian fashion brand, Ravion.

Coming from a middle-class family with limited resources, Sarthak’s entry into entrepreneurship was not backed by substantial funding, an established business network, or years of industry experience. Instead, it began with an observation, a market gap, and the willingness to take the first step towards building something independently.

For Sarthak, starting a business while pursuing his education has meant navigating unfamiliar territory, learning through experience, and understanding the responsibilities that come with turning an idea into a business.

From a Personal Observation to an Entrepreneurial Idea

The idea behind Ravion emerged from Sarthak’s experience of looking for fashion products that matched his personal preferences. The difficulty of finding what he was looking for led him to think about the gaps that existed in the market and the possibility of approaching fashion differently.

Rather than limiting his thinking to finding a product for himself, he began considering the broader opportunity to create a fashion brand with a clearly defined identity.

This thinking eventually took shape as Ravion, a contemporary fashion brand that aims to bring together modern style and timeless design. The idea was not simply to enter the fashion market but to build a brand around a philosophy that could remain relevant beyond changing trends.

The Philosophy Behind Ravion

Ravion is being developed around the belief that fashion should not be entirely driven by temporary trends. Its approach focuses on timeless designs that offer lasting appeal while reflecting contemporary fashion sensibilities.

Designed for both men and women, the brand aims to create a fashion identity that balances simplicity, versatility, and modern aesthetics. Its broader vision is to establish an accessible yet premium fashion positioning, making thoughtfully designed fashion approachable to a wider audience.

For Sarthak, developing Ravion involves more than selecting products or creating a brand name. It requires building an identity that customers can understand and connect with over time.

As the brand develops, establishing consistency in its design philosophy, product direction, and customer experience will be important to shaping its position in the competitive fashion industry.

Building a Business with Limited Resources

Starting a business while pursuing a BBA degree has brought practical challenges that go beyond academic learning. Understanding the fashion market, researching products, developing the brand, exploring marketing opportunities, and managing business expenses have all become part of Sarthak’s learning process.

He has invested approximately ₹5 lakh in the early development of Ravion. However, the initial investment did not translate into revenue, bringing financial pressure and uncertainty into the journey.

For a young entrepreneur working with limited resources, such experiences can be difficult. They also highlight an important reality of entrepreneurship: an idea and financial investment alone do not guarantee business success.

Sarthak’s experience has involved learning independently, making decisions without having all the answers, and dealing with the uncertainty of building something from scratch. Rejections, limited resources, and personal challenges have further shaped his understanding of what running a business demands.

Balancing education with entrepreneurial responsibilities has also required him to approach learning from two perspectives: the theoretical understanding gained through his BBA studies and the practical lessons emerging from building Ravion.

Looking Beyond the Early Challenges

Sarthak’s ambition for Ravion extends beyond establishing a small fashion business. His long-term goal is to develop it into a recognised Indian fashion brand with a distinctive identity and the potential to serve customers across the country.

He understands that such a vision requires time, consistency, and a strong understanding of the market. Building customer trust, identifying the right product opportunities, managing resources effectively, and developing a sustainable business model will be important parts of that process.

The intention is to build a brand that does not depend solely on short-term fashion trends but develops its own identity through timeless design and a consistent approach to fashion for men and women.

For now, Ravion remains in its early stage of development. The focus is on establishing its foundation, refining its direction, and gradually working towards the larger vision.

An Entrepreneurial Journey Still Taking Shape

Sarthak Kavi’s journey reflects an aspect of entrepreneurship that often receives less attention than success stories: the uncertain beginning.

His experience as a BBA student from Bihar attempting to build a fashion brand with limited resources highlights the importance of initiative, independent learning, and the willingness to navigate challenges without guaranteed outcomes.

There are no overnight success claims attached to his journey, nor does he present Ravion as an established name in the fashion industry. Instead, the venture represents an ongoing effort to turn an idea into a sustainable business.

For Sarthak, the objective is clear: to build Ravion into an Indian fashion brand recognised for its timeless approach, contemporary identity, and accessible yet premium positioning.

The journey is still unfolding, and its future will depend on how effectively the vision translates into products, customer relationships, and sustainable growth.
