From Assam to the World: How Borah Bridge Studios Is Building a New Cultural Platform for Cinema, Storytelling and Creative Exchange

The Founder of Borah Bridge Studios is Arunjit Borah.

Some places produce stories. Others create storytellers.

Assam has long been a land of powerful narratives—shaped by its rich cultural heritage, diverse communities, oral traditions, and artistic spirit. Yet many of these stories have remained unseen beyond regional boundaries. At a time when audiences are increasingly seeking authentic voices, Borah Bridge Studios (BBS) is emerging with a simple yet ambitious idea: to build meaningful bridges between Assam and the world through the language of cinema.

Rooted in Assam and guided by an expanding international outlook, Borah Bridge Studios is more than a film production initiative. It is an independent cinema and cultural platform dedicated to original storytelling, creative collaboration, filmmaker development, and cultural exchange. Built around the philosophy Cinema • Culture • Connection and the vision Connecting Assam with the World, the platform aims to create spaces where filmmakers, writers, actors, artists, students, audiences, and cultural institutions can come together to learn, collaborate, and inspire one another.

Building More Than Films

For Borah Bridge Studios, cinema is not simply about producing films—it is about creating opportunities, preserving cultural identity, and bringing people together through shared stories.

The platform was founded on the belief that meaningful cinema grows from communities where ideas are exchanged, new voices are encouraged, and creativity is nurtured through collaboration. Alongside developing original film projects, BBS is gradually building an ecosystem that includes workshops, screenings, creative conversations, and community-led initiatives designed to support both emerging talent and cultural dialogue.

Its ambition is clear: to contribute to a vibrant creative community where local stories find global audiences while international perspectives enrich regional storytelling.

From Filmmaker to Building a Creative Ecosystem

The vision behind Borah Bridge Studios is deeply connected to the journey of its founder, Arunjit Borah.

Through projects such as Goodbye Guruji, produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), ZIBAH, distributed by ShortsTV and streamed on Amazon Prime Video across India, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and MINI, screened at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Borah experienced how regional stories can resonate across cultures when given the opportunity.

Film festivals, collaborations, and interactions with creative professionals from different parts of the world reinforced an important belief: lasting creative impact is built not only through individual films but through communities that encourage collaboration, learning, and cultural exchange.

That belief became the foundation of Borah Bridge Studios—a platform created not to celebrate one filmmaker’s journey, but to help many others begin theirs.

Cinema • Culture • Connection

These three words are more than a tagline; they define the platform’s purpose.

The cinema tells stories.

Culture gives those stories identity.

Connection allows them to travel beyond borders.

Every initiative undertaken by Borah Bridge Studios reflects this philosophy, creating opportunities where storytelling becomes a shared cultural experience rather than an isolated artistic pursuit.

Creating Opportunities for Emerging Talent

One of the platform’s central commitments is supporting the next generation of filmmakers, actors, writers, and storytellers.

Through its Filmmaking and Creative Workshops, Borah Bridge Studios offers aspiring artists practical opportunities to engage with script development, performance, filmmaking techniques, and collaborative creative processes. Rather than focusing only on theory, the workshops encourage participants to learn by creating, experimenting, and working alongside experienced professionals.

By making filmmaking more accessible, the platform hopes to strengthen the independent creative ecosystem emerging from Assam and Northeast India.

Tea, Tales & Cinema: Where Stories Continue After the Screen Goes Dark

One of Borah Bridge Studios’ most distinctive initiatives is Tea, Tales & Cinema.

Instead of ending with the closing credits, these intimate gatherings begin where most screenings finish. Filmmakers, artists, students, and audiences come together over tea to discuss cinema, exchange ideas, share personal experiences, and explore the human stories behind the films.

In a world increasingly shaped by digital interactions, Tea, Tales & Cinema creates something refreshingly personal in a space where conversations matter as much as the films themselves and where communities are built in one story at a time.

Creative Conversations Beyond Borders

Borah Bridge Studios is also extending its vision internationally through Creative Conversations with Arunjit Borah, a dialogue series connecting emerging artists with filmmakers, writers, actors, and creative professionals from around the world.

The inaugural conversation with London-based actor, writer, and director Stephanie Rona Strange marked the beginning of a long-term initiative designed not merely to host international guests but to encourage sustained dialogue, creative exchange, and future collaboration across cultures

By bringing together diverse artistic voices, the platform hopes to inspire new ideas, build lasting relationships, and create pathways for future international partnerships.

Connecting Assam with the World

While proudly rooted in Assam, Borah Bridge Studios is steadily building relationships with filmmakers, artists, cultural organisations, and creative communities across Europe and other international creative ecosystems.

Its approach is thoughtful and organic. Rather than claiming immediate global reach, the platform is developing authentic partnerships based on trust, shared artistic values, and mutual respect.

The goal is not only to introduce Assamese stories to international audiences but also to create meaningful two-way exchanges where ideas, artists, and cultures enrich one another.

Because when stories cross borders, people do too.

Looking Ahead

The journey of Borah Bridge Studios has only just begun.

In the years ahead, the platform hopes to expand its original productions, strengthen filmmaking workshops, develop educational initiatives, organise community screenings, encourage artist exchanges, support emerging filmmakers, and explore international collaborations and future co-productions.

Its vision is not measured by the number of films it produces, but by the creative communities it helps build and the conversations those stories inspire.

A Journey Just Beginning

Reflecting on the vision behind the platform, founder Arunjit Borah shares:

“Borah Bridge Studios was born from a simple belief that cinema has the power not only to tell stories, but to bring people together across cultures. Our ambition is to create a platform where creativity, dialogue, and collaboration become as important as the films themselves. If even one young storyteller finds confidence, one meaningful collaboration begins, or one local story reaches a new audience, we know we are moving in the right direction.”

As Borah Bridge Studios continues to evolve, its mission remains unwavering—to celebrate authentic storytelling, nurture emerging talent, encourage meaningful cultural dialogue, and build creative bridges that connect Assam with the wider world.

Its story begins in Assam.

Its future will be written through every connection it creates.
