Dr. Robinson Morey

Today, we have the honor of interviewing Dr. Robinson Morey Contreras, a distinguished humanitarian who has traveled across nearly every state in India in his pursuit of spirituality and human rights advocacy.

An Inspiring Journey of Service and Transformation

Dr Robinson Morey

Interviewer: Dr. Morey Contreras, before discussing your accolades, could you share a bit about your journey and how you arrived at this point?

Dr. Morey Contreras: First and foremost, thank you for this opportunity. I am Venezuelan, and from an early age, I knew that my path would be dedicated to service and social transformation. My academic background is diverse—I am a neuropsychologist, an Ayurvedic medicine consultant, and a yoga master with over a decade of experience. I hold a Ph.D. in Human Rights with a specialization in Domestic and Gender-Based Violence from the United States and am currently completing a Doctorate in Business Administration in International Business. My work focuses on the intersection of mental health, social justice, and holistic healing.

India has become my second home. Over the years, I have researched and collaborated on projects supporting survivors of sexual abuse within religious and spiritual contexts. This work has broadened my understanding of mental health and the impact of trauma on vulnerable communities. Through my organization, Prema Social Service, and my yoga school, Prema Yoga International, I have created safe spaces for personal and professional growth, providing healing for survivors of violence and abuse.

Interviewer: You are currently in India again. Besides receiving these prestigious honors, what else are you working on?

Dr. Robinson Morey Contreras: At the moment, I am completing a certification at the International Statistical Education Center (ISEC) and the National Statistical System Training Academy (NSSTA). My experience at NSSTA has been incredibly enriching, allowing me to build professional relationships in the field of statistics and connect with experts from various regions. I deeply appreciate their hospitality and leadership, both in academic and extracurricular activities. Additionally, I had the privilege of visiting the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). NSSTA is a place I would love to return to—it truly embodies the diversity and dynamism of India.

Groundbreaking Research on Abuse in Religious Contexts

Dr Robinson Morey

Interviewer: Your research on the psychological, emotional, and social impact of abuse within religious settings has gained international recognition. How did this area of study come about?

Dr. Robinson Morey: It all started with my work in India, where I directly supported survivors of abuse in spiritual environments. I realized that the trauma these individuals endure is profound and often overlooked—especially when the perpetrators are figures of power like guru or spiritual leaders. This realization led me to expand my research to other countries, including Mexico and Spain, through my postgraduate studies, and later to the United States. Additionally, I conducted remote research in South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and several nations in the Middle East and Asia. My goal has not only been to analyze the impact of abuse but also to develop empowerment and healing strategies based on neuropsychology and holistic practices.

Interviewer: How does it feel to receive three Honorary Doctorates in India?

Dr. Morey Contreras: It is an immense honor. These doctorates symbolize the recognition of years of dedicated work in human rights and mental health. I do not see them as personal achievements but as validation of the collective effort of many individuals and organizations fighting for justice. I am profoundly grateful for this recognition and take it as a responsibility to continue my mission.

Merging Science and Spirituality for Holistic Healing

Interviewer: Your approach integrates neuropsychology with holistic healing practices such as yoga and Ayurveda. How do you successfully merge these disciplines?

Dr. Robinson Morey: I strongly believe in the integration of science and spirituality to achieve complete well-being. Neuropsychology helps us understand trauma and behavior, while yoga and Ayurvedic medicine provide powerful tools for emotional regulation and physical healing. My work focuses on combining these disciplines to create therapeutic programs that respect the cultural and spiritual needs of each individual.

Leading Global Initiatives in Diverse Contexts

Interviewer: You have led initiatives in countries with vastly different realities. What has this experience been like?

Dr. Morey: It has been a continuous learning process. Each culture has unique perspectives on trauma and healing. In India, yoga and meditation are fundamental tools; in Africa, community and belonging play a crucial role; in America, neuroscience and modern psychotherapy are widely embraced. My mission is to tailor intervention strategies to each context, always prioritizing the dignity and rights of survivors.

A Message to Changemakers

Interviewer: To conclude this conversation, what message would you like to share with those who seek to create positive change in society?

Dr. Robinson Morey Contreras: Never underestimate the power of a single action. We all have the capacity to change someone’s reality—whether through education, activism, or simply by listening with empathy. Social justice is not just a goal but a journey we walk every day.

Morey Contreras, Robinson is not only a brilliant academic but also a true agent of change. Over the course of his career, he has received numerous awards and accolades. His ability to merge science, spirituality, and social justice has made him one of the most influential voices in mental health and human rights. From Venezuela to India, from the United States to Africa, his work has touched countless lives and set a precedent in the fight against abuse and violence. His Honorary Doctorates are proof that passion and commitment can transform realities. Without a doubt, his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
